From February 5 to 12, Yang Jianxin, director of the Training Center, led a delegation on a visit to multiple partner universities and enterprises in Switzerland and Italy, aiming to further deepen cooperation between the two sides in faculty exchanges, teaching research, talent training, and other fields.
On February 5 and 6, the delegation visited Franklin University Switzerland and SUPSI (University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland) in Lugano, Switzerland. They held discussions with Swiss university representatives, including Professor Martin-Barbero, Rector of Franklin University Switzerland, and professor Emanuele Carpanzano, head of the Department of Research, Development and Knowledge Transfer at SUPSI. Both sides shared updates on their recent international exchanges, university-enterprise cooperation, talent training, and other initiatives, and exchanged views on future cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, teaching research, and achievement transformation, as well as relevant cooperation formats.

From February 7 to 10, the delegation traveled to Turin, Italy, where they visited Politecnico di Torino (Turin Polytechnic University) and the University of Turin. They engaged in conversations with Italian university representatives such as Professor Alessandro Vigliani, co-director of the China Center at Politecnico di Torino, and Professor Emy Ovcin, responsible for Lifelong Learning at the University of Turin’s Research and Continuing Education Consortium. The delegation also visited outcome transformation institutions including the Italian National Center for Industry 4.0 Competence and local representative enterprises.

On February 11, the delegation visited the University of Genoa in Italy. They held exchanges with Italian university representatives, including Professor Claudio Carmeli, Vice Rector of the University of Genoa, and Professor Daniela Preda, Director of the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Genoa. Both sides discussed cooperation opportunities in interdisciplinary faculty and student exchanges, teaching research, and other areas, and found broad alignment on next steps.

SUPSI is one of Switzerland’s seven public universities of applied sciences and arts. Having established preliminary cooperation with the Training Center earlier, this return visit further deepened the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. Politecnico di Torino, the University of Turin, and the University of Genoa are all renowned higher education institutions in Italy. Among them, Politecnico di Torino has already conducted exchanges and cooperation with Tsinghua University. During this visit, the Training Center reached initial cooperation intentions with the aforementioned institutions. Moving forward, it will carry out specific exchange and cooperation activities with relevant departments and faculties of each university, effectively enriching and enhancing the Center’s international exchange and cooperation capabilities.
