National High-quality Course: Research and Exploration of Laboratory Science

“Research and Exploration of Laboratory Science” is a school-level quality course for the whole school students, as well as a national quality course and the core curriculum of cultural quality education. The course combines with key laboratories and departments of liberal arts, excavates the rich scientific research accumulation of the whole school, screens out a number of typical research results, and organizes students to rotate to the whole school’s laboratories to observe first-line scientific research cases regardless of their specialties. This course is a comprehensive demonstration of scientific research process by high-level teachers in popular science language and intuitive form (such as experimental devices, audio-visual materials, report documents, etc.) on the experimental site. The course is also equipped with high-level academic lectures on arts and Sciences to guide methodologies and enrich cultural connotations. This course enables students to get in touch with frontline scientific research, guide them to understand different research fields, understand research tools, share teachers’research experience, learn the spirit of indomitable struggle and pursuit of excellence, cultivate a rigorous, realistic and innovative scientific style, understand the knowledge structure of different disciplines and gain engineering experience. Forming a scientific way of thinking, promoting the improvement of comprehensive quality and abilities in all aspects, and gradually cultivating a broad vision and thinking across systems, disciplines and majors.

The teaching units involved in this series of courses involve 33 departments and more than 80 laboratory units (17 teaching units have been set up in the training center). Teachers in the teaching unit include academicians, famous national teachers, professors, associate professors and experimental technicians with rich engineering experience active in scientific research.

A prominent feature of this series of courses is that teachers transform classical academic ideas and latest scientific research achievements from various fields of scientific research into teaching contents, assist students to understand their own thinking process, pay attention to the change of thinking mode, and deeply understand the knowledge structure, ability structure and quality structure of realizing innovation. In the course of teaching, students and teachers communicate with each other, subject collision, teaching process reflects thinking and inquiry.
