Tsinghua University Hosts Engineering Practice and Innovation Education Forum


On April 26, the opening ceremony of Tsinghua University’s Engineering Practice and Innovation Education Forum, coupled with the alumni homecoming series of the Fundamental Industry Training Center, took place at the Lee Shau Kee Science and Technology Building. In attendance were representatives of the Class of 1986 (1991 graduates), delegates from universities in Beijing, and partners from collaborating enterprises.

Yang Jianxin delivers remarks

In his address, Yang Jianxin, director of the Training Center, extended a warm welcome to all participants. He emphasized that the Center has always embraced Tsinghua’s motto “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” and carried forward the “Tsinghua Craftsman Spirit,” developing a comprehensive practical education system covering traditional manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, and engineering innovation. Moving forward, the Center will continue to align with Tsinghua’s goal of becoming a world-class leading university, contributing to nurturing innovative talents and serving national strategic needs.

Mentor appointment ceremony for Tsinghuas national-level innovation and entrepreneurship education practice base and donation signing for the Tsinghua Craftsman Competition

The opening ceremony featured the appointment of mentors for Tsinghuas National-Level Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Practice Base. A total of 15 professionals, including university educators, investment experts, and education-focused entrepreneurs who have long supported Tsinghuas engineering practice and innovation initiatives, were named as mentors. The event also highlighted the “Tsinghua Alumni Lifelong Learning Program · Intelligent Manufacturing Class,” launched the Kunpeng Ascend Program, and hosted a donation signing ceremony for the Tsinghua Craftsman Competition, sponsored by the alumni fund of the Class of 1986 (1991 graduates).

During the keynote session, Li Shuangshou, director of the Training Center’s teaching committee, and Ji Pengsong, an alumni representative from the Class of 1986, delivered presentations titled “Exploring and Practicing Engineering Maker Education Models” and “Innovation and Entrepreneurship RGB,” respectively.

Wang Ji (Beijing Zhi Wang Yi Lian Technology Co., Ltd.), Liu Xueliang (TusStar), Feng Xiao (data analysis system expert at Huawei), Li Chao (Tsinghua University’s National Research Center for Information Science and Technology), and Han Yu (2023 master’s student at Tsinghua University Academy of Arts and Design) shared their insights on innovation and entrepreneurship in the new era, drawing on their respective innovative projects and research areas.

Training Center alumni homecoming series

Centered on the theme “Intelligent Manufacturing Empowers, Craftsman Spirit Inspires,” the Center’s 2025 alumni homecoming series includes the opening ceremony, the Engineering Practice and Innovation Education Forum, Award Ceremony & Outstanding Achievements Exhibition of the 4th Tsinghua Craftsman CompetitionSupported by the Class of 1986 (1991 Graduates) Alumni Fund, the iCenter Open Day & Engineering Practice and Innovation Education Experience, and the Symposium on Cultivating Future Outstanding Engineering Innovation Talents. These events aim to showcase Tsinghua’s notable achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship education, promote the “Tsinghua Craftsman Spirit,” and advance the cultivation of high-level, high-quality innovative talents at the university.
