“Striving Youth, Pioneering in Sci-Tech Innovation” The 2025 Tsinghua Maker Day Series of Events Held Successfully


The 2025 Tsinghua Maker Day series of events took place at the Lee Shau Kee Science and Technology Building of Tsinghua University from November 29 to 30. Under the theme "Striving Youth, Pioneering in Sci-Tech Innovation," the event attracted over 1,200 on-site participants, including experts, scholars, maker representatives, entrepreneurs, and alumni from numerous renowned domestic and international universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beihang University, Tongji University, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The cumulative number of online viewers reached nearly 100,000.

Peng Gang Delivers a Speech

At the opening ceremony, Peng Gang, Vice President of Tsinghua University, delivered a speech welcoming all participants. He emphasized the strategic  role of education, science and technology, and talent in national development. He also shared Tsinghua University's approach to integrating innovation and entrepreneurship education into talent cultivation. By building a trinity education system and diverse platforms, the university encourages young students to solidify their foundational knowledge, stay abreast of cutting-edge developments, engage in innovation in key fields, and contribute to the construction of a powerful country.

Liu Yi Reads the Congratulatory Letter

A special session was held to present congratulatory letters in recognition of Tsinghua students’ outstanding achievements in major domestic and international innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in 2025. Liu Yi, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, read the congratulatory letter, and Vice President Peng Gang presented the letters to the representative teams of award winners from the China International College Students' Innovation Competition and the China-U.S. Youth Maker Competition.

Handover Ceremony of the Annual Convening Institution of the Asian University Alliance Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cooperation Network


The handover ceremony of the annual convening institution of the Asian University Alliance (AUA) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cooperation Network was also held at the opening ceremony.


Launch of the 5th "Tsinghua Craftsman Competition" Funded by the Class of 1986 (Graduating Class of 1991) Alumni Endowment


Sun Xuguang, representative of the Class of 1986 alumni, shared his own entrepreneurial experience and announced the official launch of the 5th "Tsinghua Craftsman Competition" funded by the Class of 1986 (Graduating Class of 1991) Alumni Endowment.



Parallel to the opening ceremony, the 2025 International Maker Education Forum was held, featuring insightful speeches and exchanges: Hu Chuxiong, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Coordinator of Tsinghua University and Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, gave a comprehensive and systematic introduction to Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education at Tsinghua University. Shin Cheul KIM, Vice President for Knowledge Transfer of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, elaborated on the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship education under the title Creating the Future. Chen Sheng, Executive Dean of the Institute of Energy Internet Innovation at Tsinghua University and Founder & Chairman of 21Vianet Group, delivered a speech titled Maker Spirit + Swarm Intelligence to Build Disruptive Innovative AI Infrastructure. Wang Zhiquan from Qinghao Puzhong shared the company’s development with the topic Qinghao Puzhong – World-leading Comprehensive Solutions for Dental Restoration Materials.

Outstanding student representatives also shared their maker practices and insights at the forum, including Chen Weilian, Ye Yuxuan and Gao Yuchen, award winners of the China International College Students' Innovation Competition, as well as Zhai Yuxuan, an outstanding representative of the China-U.S. Youth Maker Competition.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Yang Jianxin, Director of the Engineering Practice Education Center, and the 2025 International Maker Education Forum was hosted by Zhang Qi, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Teaching Department of the Engineering Practice Education Center.

The series of events featured a rich array of innovation and entrepreneurship competitions and student activities, including:

lThe 2025 Tsinghua Maker Day – iCenter Open Experience Activity;

lThe 2025 Tsinghua University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Achievement Exhibition;

lThe Excellent Achievement Exhibition of National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Colleges (Practice Bases) in Beijing;

lThe Tsinghua University Special Competition of the Ascend AI & Kunpeng Innovation Competition (also serving as the Industry-Education Integration Sub-competition/Off-campus Invitation Special Competition of the Integrated Innovation Track of the "Tsinghua Craftsman Competition");

lThe Awarding Ceremony for the Summer Internship Track of the 5th "Tsinghua Craftsman Competition" funded by the Class of 1986 (Graduating Class of 1991) Alumni Endowment.

The series of events was hosted by the Academic Affairs Office of Tsinghua University and undertaken by the Engineering Practice Education Center. It was co-organized by Tsinghua Chuang+, x-lab, the Art, Science and Technology Innovation Base of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua i-Space, the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base of Tsinghua University, the Engineering Training Research Branch of Beijing Higher Education Society, the Tsinghua University Student Maker Space Association, the Tsinghua University Student Entrepreneurship Association, the Tsinghua University Future Instrument Interest Team and the Tsinghua University Medical-Engineering Integration Interest Team. The event also received support from the Communist Youth League Committee of Tsinghua University, the China University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance and the Maker Education Base Alliance.
