On April 29, the opening ceremony of the Innovation Forum of the Tsinghua University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Practice Base and the Centennial Celebration Series of the Training Center was held at the Li Zhaoji Technology Building. The event was attended by notable figures including Xu Guangwen, alumnus from the Class of 1986, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Chairman of the Liao Ning Provincial Committee of the Zhigong Party, and President of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology; Zhu Xun, Director of the Labor Model Management Office of the Labor and Economic Work Department of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU); Wang Zhijun, Vice Chairman of the Teaching Steering Committee for Electronic Information Majors in Higher Education and Professor at Peking University’s School of Electronic Information Science and Technology; Cai Yan, alumnus from the Class of 1989, Deputy Director of the Machine Tool Engineering Research Institute at General Technology Group; Xin Minqi, alumnus from the Class of 1986, Vice President of the China Synthetic Resin Association and founder of Kumho Petrochemical Plastics Co., Ltd. Also present was Li Shuangshou, Director of the Basic Industry Training Center, who hosted the opening ceremony.

Speech by Zhu Xun
Zhu Xun, representing the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, extended festive greetings to the faculty, students, and alumni of Tsinghua. He said that the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China had for the first time listed national strategic talent forces, including master artisans, strategic scientists, and outstanding engineers, as a key national asset. The ACFTU will collaborate with Tsinghua to conduct special research on cultivating master artisans to contribute wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of the country’s manufacturing industry.

Speech by Liu Pei
Liu Pei, Deputy Director of Tsinghua University’s Academic Affairs Office, shared that the Ministry of Education launched a nationwide initiative in 2022 to build national-level innovation and entrepreneurship education practice bases. Tsinghua was selected as one of the first national-level innovation and entrepreneurship education practice bases, with the Training Center as its primary base. Going forward, Tsinghua will adhere to the “three-in-one” educational philosophy, further advancing the integration of innovation, entrepreneurship, and education, and continuing to leverage the practice base’s role as a model to drive high-quality development in innovation and entrepreneurship education. This will contribute significantly to the cultivation of innovative and entrepreneurial talents for the new era.
At the opening ceremony, the first batch of mentors for the national-level innovation and entrepreneurship education practice bases were appointed, and the winners of the first National University Teachers’ Engineering Maker Teaching Ability Competition were announced.

In the speech session, Xu Guangwen delivered a talk titled "Fundamentals and Applications of Thermochemical Reaction Regulation," introducing his team’s innovative work on thermochemical reaction regulation. Wang Zhijun’s speech, titled "Enhancing Electronic Engineering Practice to Train Students’ Innovation Capabilities," shared insights from the perspective of teaching, discussing how to cultivate student innovation skills through real engineering practice projects and project-driven training in the electronic field. Cai Yan spoke on “Strengthening University-Industry Collaboration to Assist the Revitalization of the High-end Machine Tool Equipment Industry,” discussing a series of important collaborations between General Technology Group and Tsinghua University. Li Yanmei, Dean of Tsinghua University’s Zhili College, presented on “Pursuing Knowledge and Understanding Principles, Cultivating Emerging and Interdisciplinary Talents for the Future,” providing a comprehensive introduction to the five colleges in Tsinghua for basic courses and focusing on the collaborative courses, such as “Interdisciplinary Basic Science Practice,” developed by Zhili College and the Training Center. Xin Minqi’s speech, titled “Survival of the Fittest: Innovate or Be Eliminated,” shared the underlying logic of innovation in the commercial field, focusing on innovation as the source of economic growth, the process of innovation, and how to generate high commercial returns from innovation.

The series of events organized by the Training Center for the university’s centennial celebration included the Tsinghua University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Practice Base Innovation Forum, iCenter Open Day and Engineering Practice & Innovation Education Experience Activities, the Finals of the Second Tsinghua University Class of 1986 (Class of 1991) Alumni Award Fund “Tsinghua Craftsman” Competition, the Awards Ceremony, and exhibitions such as the “Tsinghua Craftsman Competition Results Exhibition" and the “Creative Labor Education Achievement Exhibition.” This year’s “Tsinghua Craftsman” Competition established an innovative fusion model integrating science and education, industry and education, and university and local collaboration, hosting its first-ever external invitational and the National Engineering Innovation and Labor Education Competition.
