On January 10, the iCenter "Competition & Course Project" Kick-off Meeting for Colleges was held in the Lee Shau Kee Science and Technology Building. Su Peng, secretary of the College Party Committee and Director of the Management Center, Li Zhengcao, Vice President of Weiyang College, Xu Luping, Vice President of Xingjian College, Li Shuangshou, Director of the Fundamental Industry Training Center, relevant teachers from the Training Center, and more than 30 students from various colleges attended the kick-off meeting.

Su Peng Giving her Speech
In her speech, Su Peng expressed her gratitude to the iCenter for holding this special event for students from the various colleges of Tsinghua University. Su Peng mentioned that this event was designed for students and hoped that the students would take full advantage of this opportunity to learn. This event was the first of its kind for colleges, and Su Peng hoped that the college students and the teachers from the Training Center would explore through experimentation and gain valuable insights.

Li Zhengcao Giving his Speech
In his speech, Li Zhengcao mentioned that the training center and Weiyang College established the Weiyang Experimental Teaching Center on November 11, 2021, and that many students from Weiyang College were also participating in this event. Li Zhengcao said that participating in the competition was an organized hands-on process, which was crucial for cultivating students' ability to solve problems through innovative and interdisciplinary solutions. He hoped that the students would do more, think more, and learn more during this event and improve their overall abilities through a process of exploration.

Xu Luping Giving his Speech
Xu Luping said that Xingjian College was an institution founded on mathematics and mechanics that emphasized research-based learning. It aimed to cultivate students' ability to apply their knowledge in order to solve real-world problems in science and engineering. He stated that this event would provide a valuable environment for students to combine academic study, hands-on engagement, practice, and research, and expressed his hope that the students would actively use their strengths, professional abilities, and practical experience to completely fuse knowledge and practice, providing a promising foundation for subsequent study and research.

Li Shuangshou Giving his Speech
Li Shuangshou said that this event generated positive responses from students of various colleges, and that student interest and initiative were the key reasons for its success. He explained that the "i" in "iCenter" stood for industry, interdisciplinary, innovation, and the focus on the individual student. The two-week event would focus on open-ended topics and bring together multiple disciplines, guiding students to build real-world applications by themselves. During this extremely challenging event, the iCenter would do its best to help students bring their ideas to life.

Exchanges and Interaction
After the meeting, the students participating in the event visited the Training Center's engineering practice and innovation base for in-depth exchanges with teachers from the Training Center.

At the Event
This event was co-sponsored by the Fundamental Industry Training Center (iCenter) and the College Management Center and attracted more than 30 students from Weiyang, Xingjian, Zhili, Tanwei, Xinya, and Rixin Colleges. The event was based on the M05 module "Operations on All Fronts - Competition & Course Certificate Project" of the iCenter's Manufacturing Engineering Experience course. Taking the China National Undergraduate Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition held by the Ministry of Education as its starting point, it covered all-inclusive topics, including the current and future development of smart manufacturing, the future of smart distribution by UAVs, and household waste classification. Following the concepts of innovation, coordination, environmental protection, openness, and sharing, comprehensive practice-based projects would be developed.
