Li Luming Giving his Speech

Li Luming, Dean of Tsinghua's School of Aerospace Engineering and Dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Medicine and Engineering, gave a talk, "From Manned Spaceflight to Neuromodulation", where he shared his thoughts on engineering and engineering training and education by drawing on his own scientific research work. He said that engineering research has gradually transitioned from its original status as a discipline and specialty to a problem-oriented approach, where different disciplines and majors are increasingly integrated. This has shortened the process from "scientific discovery" to "application" as never before. As someone with firsthand experience, he hoped that the Training Center will continue to be a center for innovation-oriented practice, problem-oriented innovation, interdisciplinary integration, and student innovation and entrepreneurship.

At the Event

This was the first forum since the MOE Virtual Teaching and Research Office for the Education of Engineering Makers was founded. It was also held as one of the events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Tsinghua University's Learning Center for Engineering Practice. The Virtual Teaching and Research Office for the Education of Engineering Makers established under the leadership of Professor Li Shuangshou was selected to be among the first batch of the MOE's Virtual Teaching and Research Office pilot projects in colleges and universities. As a new format for teaching organization and teaching development community, the goal of the Virtual Teaching and Research Office is to operate a new and efficient type of education development community. In the field of engineering maker education, it is a learning and research community integrating online and offline methods, a platform for theoretical research and practical exploration, and a proving ground and promotional platform for achievements.
